Qing Travels: Bantayan Island

It was a 3hrs boat ride at dawn and we arrived at Bantayan Island by 7pm, yes it was already night time. Half of the travel is in the middle of the ocean while the sun is setting and night is waking. But still glad that we arrived at Bantayan Island in one piece. Concerning that we arrived at night time, there is still available tricycle to get you around while finding a place to stay. Our tricycle driver is so patient to find us a cheap stay for the night (rate is P20/head) and we arrived at Bantayan Island Cottages, they are offering rooms with a rate of P400-700 only. Since the only available room is the P400, fan room that is good for two, we immediately got it because of the exhausting boat travel we had. Then, we just put down our things and went out for dinner. Our driver drops us at Big Jels, I think it is a new place to dine in and they have affordable meals too plus the food is quite good. After some chit chats, we get back to the stay and the driver we had offered us his Bantayan land tour and we avail it for the next day.

The next day we wake up at 7am and have coffee (the stay is providing a free coffee). Bantayan Cottages is an old house that they turned into a stay in a hotel, well, it was just okay since we just need a place to sleep in for the night. At 9am we checked out and have breakfast at Chef Panyang, the place is popular with the tourist because of its affordable big serving of food, food is good and service is also good. After breakfast we start the tour, we had a (P400 deal). Here are the places we visited in Bantayan Island.

Obo Ob Omegeira Mangrove Garden
It’s hot when we visited there so make sure to put on sunscreen because the walkway is not roofed. What I liked about the place is the Camp Sawi sign which was famous for the tourist because of the movie Camp Sawi. It was low tide but still, I recommend to visit the place.

St. Peter and Paul Church
This is one of the places I really want to visit because it is the oldest church in the Visayas. It was located in their capital which is quite far from the places in our tour so we added P200 for it.

Paradise Beach Resort
If only I know this place I will surely stay here for the rest of the day. It was really a paradise. Entrance fee is just P50.

Bantayan Cliff Diving and The Ruins
Did not spend a lot of time here because it was so hot but still worth to visit.

Resort Hopping
A good day to end your day by strolling along the seashore of Bantayan Island while waiting for the sun to set. You can find all the good resort along the shore and explore some good restaurant too. Walk to the Bantayan beach front and explore all the resorts that lined up. The best time to do this is in the afternoon and watch the sunset.

Kota Beach
One of the famous beach resort in Bantayan Island because of the movie Camp Sawi. A super nice place for the barkada and family. The resort has a nice restaurant where we ate dinner on our last night in Bantayan Island, surprisingly well and it’s very affordable.

Other things you have to try!
Ogtong Cave
Island Hopping
Skydiving

The tour lasted for half a day so it was perfect for check-in at Budyong Resort and beside it is the famous Kota Beach. We had our lunch at Chef Panyang again and rest for the rest of the day. In the afternoon, we decided to do resort hopping, we walk from Budyong up to the port walking, and it was relaxing. Ending the night with a good dinner at the Kota Beach’s restaurant since it is my last day in Bantayan and I need to get ready early to get the first ferry.
And that wraps up my Malapascua-Kalanggaman-Bantayan Island solo travel! My ultimate island hopping experience so far. More solo travel for me I guess?

Your stray kid,
Qing
